Fitness Instructor: Flexible schedule & hours, Zumba or yoga for senior citizens




Turn-Around Jumpers 3-on-3 Basketball Tournamanet at LeMoyne College is Saturday, June 10th. The following four shifts are available for all jobs below.
Shift One:  8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Shift Two:  11:30 a.m. –  3:30 p.m.
Shift Three:  3 p.m. –  8 p.m.
All Day Shift

Please remember to wear comfortable clothing and shoes, mid-thigh length shorts or longer are acceptable as well pants or jeans with no holes or tears.

Scorekeepers – Receivetraining at the start of your shift to operate the electronic scoreboard. Keepscore for tournament play at assigned court. Ensure the volunteer that replaces your shift is trained and knows what tasks need to be done.

Timekeepers – Keeptime for tournament play at assigned court. Assist in ensuring that games beginand end according to schedule – games will begin at the top and middle of each hour. Ensure the volunteer that replaces your shift is trained and knows what tasks need to be done.

Concession Stand – Assist in the sale and distribution of food items to players and spectators
to help raise funds for The Salvation Army. All volunteers in the food area must wear a hairnet or hat at all times. Ensure replacement volunteer is trained.

Registration – Staff registration table for player and team check-in and volunteer check-in. Confirm each team is paid in full and that waivers have been signed and collected from each participating player prior to entrance to the tournament. Distribute materials to those checking in.

Cleanup –  Assist with ongoing event clean up and end-of-shift clean up.

Floaters – To fill-in wherever as needed and to be a liaison to volunteers, attendees and the event coordinator.

The Salvation Army of the Syracuse Area offers over 40 distinct services to residents of Onondaga County and serves more than 41,000 individuals each year. Many of our programs would not be possible without the thousands of hours that are donated each year by our generous volunteers. Below are some of the programs where volunteers are most needed.

Day Care Centers & After School Program (must be 18 or older, or at least 14 if accompanied by a parent or guardian) - basic child care tasks, recreational actitivites, arts and crafts and tutoring

Food Pantry- (must be 16 or older, or at least 14 if accompanied by a parent or guardian) help food pantry staff sort, stock, package and distribute groceries for needy families. Some lifting of heavy items is required.

Senior Center - help serve meals, provide companionship and participate in recreational activities. 

Emergency Shelter -  volunteers are needed Monday through Friday from 4pm to 6pm and Saturday and Sunday from 9am to 11am to assist in preparing and serving meals. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old, or at least 14 if accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Facilities Department - projects include cleaning, painting, light plumbing and carpentry.

Administrative Support - The Development and Human Resources Departments are always looking for support with basic office tasks.
